Day 4 — Upstate New York —Vermont’s Cold Hollow Cider Mill & Maple Grove Farms — New Hampshire’s White Mtns. —Oct. 2

It was hard to leave the Niagara Falls area, but we had a busy day ahead. Leaving early, we traveled  through upstate New York to Vermont’s Green Mountains. We made a stop at the Cold Hollow Cider Miller in Waterbury Center for a free sample of cold cider and a delicious boxed lunch. Eating outside allowed us to enjoy our beautiful surroundings. After an opportunity to buy authentic Vermont products, we left for the White Mountains in New Hampshire.

Maple Syrup is the product to buy at Maple Grove Farms in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. The 100% pure maple syrup in three different colors/grades from light to amber was sampled by most of us. Helen Gray and Ethel McLaren started making maple candy on their farm in 1915 from the pure maple syrup. It was such a hit that it drew people from all over and soon became what is now Maple Grove Farms. After a fun visit and shopping opportunity, we drove to Lincoln, New Hampshire in the White Mountains.
